Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I have my 5 year old buddy visiting me this week, she and I made some fun St. Patrick’s day projects I thought I’d share with you today.
First off we made some chocolate drizzled Yogurt Pretzels. These were extremely easy to make. I bought some yogurt covered pretzels, green melting wafers, chocolate chips and shamrock sprinkles from the bulk food store.
I spread out the pretzels on some parchment paper.
Then I melted the wafers and chocolate chips, and transferred it to plastic piping bags. And let the five year old go to town! The drizzling doesn’t have to be perfect, just fun! 😉
We drizzled both the green and dark chocolate, then sprinkled the shamrock candies on top while the chocolate was still warm. I kept asking her if she thought we had enough chocolate yet, nope! I guess when you are five, and there is chocolate involved more is more!
Let cool to room temp. or if your are impatient like me, put them in the freezer to cool faster. When cool they are ready to devour, or package up for class treats. My little friend was so excited to take these treats to school today to give to her classmates.
Next we made a shamrock Painted T-Shirt. I bought a plain white T-Shirt from Wal-Mart. I used some green Martha Stewart craft paint suitable for fabrics and a pencil with an eraser end.
I traced a shamrock on to some cardstock, then cut it out with scissors. I placed some cardstock between the two layers of the t-shirt, so the paint wouldn’t leak on to the back of the shirt. Then placed my cut out shamrock centred on the shirt.
Next I let my little bud paint away. Using the eraser part of the pencil, dipping in to the paint then dabbing all the way around the cut out.
When the paint is dry remove the paper shamrock to reveal the shape.
She was so proud of herself for making her own shirt to wear today, and couldn’t wait to get dressed this morning.
